Make These August Events Part of Your Stay at The Cove
When you stay at The Cove at Sylvan Beach, you’re always a short drive away from some of Upstate New York’s best summertime events. This August, our guests will find family fun, great music, local artisans, and so much more at events happening all month long. Check out some of our favorite upcoming events and make sure to add a few to your vacation plans!

Attention, Jeepers: Jeeps At The Beach is returning for another great show in Sylvan Beach on August 7. The largest Jeep-only show in the region welcomes Jeeps of all ages and models, although registration is required to show your ride. There will be live music, activities for the kids, raffles, and more, and the event is dog-friendly, making it a great way to spend the day in beautiful Sylvan Beach with your furry friend. Best of all, Jeeps At The Beach benefits a great cause, with all proceeds donated to the Upstate Foundation via Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.
Canal Fest

Another great Sylvan Beach event, Canal Fest will be held from August 12-14 and includes a craft and vendor show, live music from local musicians, and tons of family-focused fun kids will love. This year’s event also offers a kids’ fishing derby for the younger anglers in your family, a visit from the Utica ZooMobile, a water ski show, and movies in the park. On Saturday night, head into town for the huge fireworks show over Oneida Lake.
Capitolfest Film Festival
Just a short drive away in Rome, the Capitol Arts Complex will welcome fans of silent films and early talkies to Capitolfest from August 12-14. This year’s festivities include a tribute to Robert Armstrong, whose film and TV career spanned five decades. Most films are shown in 35mm prints on the Rome Capitol Theater’s carbon-arc, variable-speed projectors for a vintage viewing experience, and organ music fills leisurely intermissions to make sure there’s plenty of time to refresh before diving into the next screening. Guests can register for the whole show, but one- and two-day passes and single-session admission are available as well.
Madison-Bouckville Antique Week

Antiques collectors and vintage enthusiasts flock to Madison-Bouckville Antique Week each year in August to explore New York’s largest antiques and collectibles show with 13 showfields and more than 2,000 dealers and vendors. This year’s event held from August 15-21 will be the show’s 50th anniversary and include a vast selection of items for sale from decades – and centuries – past. There are also several year-round antiques shops and co-ops near the show, parking is free, and food trucks will be on site for shoppers working up an appetite!
Chenango Blues Festival
